Terms of Service

By booking a session, purchasing a plan, or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

LU English is operated by Sean Kivi, located at 9 Bartle House, Oxford Court, Manchester, M2 3WQ, United Kingdom.

LU English provides diagnostic-first English tutoring — identifying what is holding a student back and fixing it through targeted live sessions.

All sessions are booked through the LU English dashboard. Payment is required at the time of booking or at the start of each billing cycle for monthly plans. The minimum commitment for recurring plans is 4 sessions per month.

Sessions are conducted online through the LU English classroom. Students in China connect via Voov. You are responsible for having a stable internet connection, a working microphone, and a quiet environment.

Diagnostic: the $25 diagnostic fee is non-refundable.

24 or more hours notice: if you cancel a session 24 or more hours in advance, you receive a credit. Credits can be used for a makeup lesson in the same billing month, or they are automatically deducted from your next invoice.

Less than 24 hours notice: cancellations within 24 hours of the session forfeit the session. No credit is issued.

No-shows: if you miss a scheduled session without notice, the session is forfeited. We wait up to 10 minutes before marking a session as a no-show.

Monthly plans: monthly plan fees are non-refundable once the billing cycle has begun. You may cancel your plan before the next cycle starts.

If you complete the full prep plan set after your diagnostic — including attending every scheduled session, completing all assigned homework, and following the recommended practice — and your DET score has not improved within 8 weeks, we will continue working with you at no additional cost until it does.

This guarantee is conditional. Students who skip sessions, do not complete homework, or do not follow the prep plan are not covered. The determination of whether the plan was followed is made by LU English based on session attendance records and homework completion.

All sessions are recorded. By booking a session, you consent to this recording. Recordings serve three purposes:

Recordings are automatically deleted after 7 days. Clips approved for marketing are retained separately. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared, provide accurate information during assessments, complete recommended practice between sessions, treat their teacher with respect, and ensure a suitable learning environment.

For students under 18, a parent or guardian must provide consent for enrollment. Parents may be asked to participate in sessions or receive progress reports.

All content, materials, methodologies, and resources provided by LU English are protected by copyright. This includes course materials, worksheets, practice resources, the DET Membership platform content, session recordings, and website content.

You may use materials for personal learning only. Sharing, redistributing, or using materials for commercial purposes is prohibited without written permission.

LU English provides expert instruction using diagnostic-first methods. Learning outcomes depend on individual effort, practice, and commitment.

We do not guarantee specific test scores, grades, or outcomes outside of the conditional guarantee described in Section 5. Testimonials represent individual results and are not guaranteed for all students.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LU English's total liability for any claims related to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service in question.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including lost opportunities or outcomes.
